News that Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré’s parent club Eintracht Frankfurt had agreed to a deal to sell the currently on loan SV Werder Bremen attacker to Brazil’s SC Internacional of Porto Alegre was met with clear disapproval by SV licensing head Clemens Fritz on Wednesday. Fritz’s club still maintain the rights to Borré for the remaining six months of his current loan arrangement.

Fritz – on record as saying that Bremen have no plans to release the forward from his contractual obligations – expressed anger that the Brazilian side engaged in a full-fledged media roll out introducing their new player. The German personnel executive also reiterated that his club had no intention of allowing the 28-year-old to depart early.

“Porto Alegre’s behavior is very surprising,” Fritz explained in an interview published on Bremen’s ‘Deichstube’ website, “He’s still under contract with us. We are are very irritated that Rafa has been photographed in the shirt of another club. We have no intention of letting him go without compensation this winter.”

Bremen can certainly try to obtain some sort of compensation for Borré, but cannot technically prevent Eintracht from recalling him early. Moreover, the player himself may wish to get started back on his native continent as soon as possible.

SC Internacional’s media roll-out included pictures of an enthused Borré signing a new contract, along with him toasting a mug with fellow Latin American striker Lucas Alario. Eintracht recently sold the Argentine to the same Brazilian Serie A outlet.
