Kicker reports that SC Freiburg striker Michael Gregoritsch is on the verge of transferring to Denmark’s Brøndby IF. The move will constitute the end of a long and illustrious German footballing career for the Austrian international. Gregoritsch scored 59 Bundesliga goals over the course of ten seasons spent playing for Freiburg, Hamburg, Augsburg, and Schalke.
Gregoritsch also featured for St. Pauli and VfL Bochum in the 2. Bundesliga and the Hoffenheim reserves in the German fourth division. The 31-year-old will be playing football in a non-German speaking country for the first time in his entire career since making his professional debut in the 2009/10 Austrian Bundesliga campaign.
No longer much of a factor at Freiburg, Gregoritsch had been linked with moves to Werder Bremen and 1. FC Köln this summer. Kicker doesn’t have anything to report in terms of a potential transfer fee, only noting that Gregoritsch is scheduled for his Brøndby medical either today or tomorrow.
