Freiburg welcomed Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa-Park Stadion this afternoon where a dramatic game finished 3-3 in spectacular fashion.

This game sprung to life in the 27th minute which makes the start of an 8-minute goal flurry. Philipp Max crossed from the left and Omar Marmoush settled himself to slide the ball past Atubolu for the lead. Freiburg hit back on the half-hour mark. Roland Sallai’s initial strike was saved, however the rebound fell to Ritsu Dōan who simply couldn’t miss. Five minutes later, Die Adler resumed control at 2-1. The swift counterattack let Marmoush loose. The Egyptian fed Knauff who fired home first time of asking.
Just as it looked like Dino Toppmöller’s side would take a one-goal advantage into the dressing rooms, Freiburg were awarded a penalty. Makoto Hasebe the guilty party felling Höler in the box. Vincenzo Grifo fired the resulting spot-kick into the left corner, with Trapp only inches out of reach.
The second-half was tense and close affair up until the 72nd minute. Super-sub Ansgar Knauff popped up with the goods again. Omar Marmoush provided the delivery, and the 22-year-old winger drilled the ball beyond Atubolu into the right corner.
But Christian Streich teams refuse to lie down. Noah Weißhaupt’s cross was met by Gregoritsch’s head who bet Trapp with a well-placed header for 3-3. Both Gregoritsch and Ekitiké had chances to win it at either end, however Tuta and Kübler were on hand to clear off the goal lines on both occasions.
