France to host Ireland at Parc des Princes in Paris for Euro 2024 qualifier

The French FA have announced that the Euro 2024 qualifier between France and Ireland will be played at Paris’ Parc des Princes on September 7. The French FA were in search of a replacement ground for the Stade de France, as the 80,000-seater in Saint-Denis will be used for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which will kick off with a France v New Zealand clash on September 8.

The Didier Deschamps-led side will return to the Stade de France after the World Cup, on November 18, for a Euro 2024 qualifier against Gibraltar. Before that, Les Bleus will play a friendly game, against an unnamed side, at Lille’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy on October 17.

Then, the Stade de France will undertake compliance and renovation works for the 2024 summer Olympic Games in Paris, which are due to be held from Friday July 26th to Sunday August 11th. With the Saint-Denis ground no longer an option, France will play four games in four different stadiums in early 2024. Lyon’s Groupama Stadium and Marseille’s Vélodrome will host two friendlies, or two Euro 2024 playoff rounds, in March. In June, with France expected to qualify for Euro 2024 in Germany, Les Bleus will play two friendlies at Bordeaux’s Matmut-Atlantique and at Metz’s Stade Saint-Symphorien.

France are top of their Euro 2024 qualifying group after beating The Netherlands (4-0) and Ireland (1-0). France will travel to Gibraltar on June 16 and host Greece at the Stade de France three days later to tighten their grip on a place at Euro 2024.
