Brice Samba looks set to make his France debut against Gibraltar on Friday night, whilst Olivier Giroud Kingsley Coman look to join captain Kylian Mbappé in Les Bleus’ front three.
As reported by RMC Sport yesterday, Mike Maignan was unable to finish Thursday’s training session in Faro. It is unclear whether the AC Milan shot-stopper will be fit enough to play against Gibraltar, but this could be the time to hand Samba his debut. Didier Deschamps announced in Thursday’s press conference that the RC Lens goalkeeper was France’s number two, behind Maignan, but ahead of Alphonse Areola.
There aren’t expected to be too many surprises. Ferland Mendy is injured, as is Adrien Rabiot, meaning that Eduardo Camavinga, who has featured more regularly at left-back for France, will likely move into the midfield.
France likely XI v Gibraltar
Brice Samba – Théo Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konaté, Benjamin Pavard – Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Antoine Griezmann – Kylian Mbappé, Olivier Giroud, Kinglsey Coman. (L’Éq)
