Emil Forsberg’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has blasted RB Leipzig for their treatment of his client.

After the first three games of the season, Forsberg has been limited to just two performances and 57 minutes of football.

Having been a loyal servant to the club since his move from Malmö FF in January 2015, Forsberg is not being given the respect he deserves, according to Cetinkaya, who claims that the 30-year-old’s playing time is being negatively affected by someone at the club.

“Emil has always stood by the club. Now there is rotation due to the many strong attacking players, which is okay. What is not okay at all is that Emil is not part of this rotation. Emil trains well and deserves respect. But there are people at the club, who apparently do not think so,” Cetinkaya told Bild.

Cetinkaya did not name names, but cryptically added:

“Every time it is so that Emil has to prove himself to a coach. That is fine too. But this time Emil is being held back in another area as well. Not by the coach, not by [club CEO] Oliver Mintzlaff, but by the one, who prefers other players he knows from Salzburg. But that is not right. In the same way, it’s not right when he tries to influence the coach. If something doesn’t fit, then you have to discuss it openly,” said Cetinkaya, adding that Forsberg has “many inquiries” from other clubs.

“But so far a transfer has not been an option because Emil loves the city and the club,” he emphasized.
