Having reportedly let a club-imposed-deadline for signing a contract-extension pass, RB Leipzig and German national team defender Lukas Klostermann is now free to negotiate with other clubs over a potential move on a free transfer after the current campaign concludes. Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Serie A side ACF Fiorentina are interested in acquiring the 27-year-old, either on a free after the season or possibly this January via a purchase.
Leipzig will have to decide what to do with the versatile defender, who can play as both a right fullback or in central defense. The German Red Bulls would naturally rather net some cash for Klostermann rather than lose him on an expiring contract after the season. The 22-times-capped international maintains an estimated market worth of €8 million in the latest transfermarkt listings.
