FC Köln head coach Steffen Baumgart plans to start with a brand new attacking partnership when the Bundesliga returns this weekend, according to Bild.
The billy goats have struggled for goals this season and slipped closer to the relegation places before the winter break. So far this campaign, Köln’s top scorer this season is Tigges who has only netted on three occasions. Simply put – it isn’t good enough.
With winter signing Davie Selke from Hertha Berlin now amongst Baumgart’s ranks, the coach plans to start both Selke and Tigges as a front two.
Both Selke and Tigges will provide a huge aerial threat with both strikers standing at 1.94m and 1.93m respectively. It may just be the tallest attacking partnership in the league and put fear into the eyes of other teams’ defence. If Köln aim to play a crossing game, it could resolve their attacking issues.
