Fabrizio Romano praises Man United transfer window, especially signing of “generational talent”

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has praised Manchester United’s performance in the summer window, particularly the signing of young French centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside via the Daily Briefing, Romano described Yoro as a generational talent who should end up being a good signing for the Red Devils for the long term.

Romano also felt positive about what the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt could do for Man Utd, while he also admitted that Manuel Ugarte was a bit expensive, but definitely needed at Old Trafford.

MUFC fans will perhaps have mixed feelings about the transfer window, especially after a poor start to the season that has seen Erik ten Hag’s side lose back-to-back games against Brighton and Liverpool, with some familiar problems on show in terms of the team’s style of play and defensive frailties.

Leny Yoro joined Manchester United earlier in the summer

On the face of it, though, once the new additions settle in, they should surely strengthen this United side.

Man Utd transfer window was a good one, says Fabrizio Romano

“Overall I’d say it was a very positive window for Manchester United,” Romano said.

“Yoro is a generational talent, De Ligt and Mazraoui are two excellent additions, and I really like Zirkzee as he has big potential. Ugarte was expensive but that kind of player was needed, so I think there were a number of very good additions for the club.

“The best signing that stands out for me was Yoro, In my opinion. We know Real Madrid and other top clubs also wanted him, and he looks like he has a big future at the highest level.”

Yoro has been unfortunate to pick up an injury almost immediately after joining United, but it’s clear he’s a top young player who can make a big impact once he returns to fitness.
