Euro Club Reach Agreement to Sign £200,000-a-Week Man Utd Star

Trabzonspor have reached a verbal agreement to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana on loan, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Turkish club are reportedly aiming to sign the £200,000-a-week Cameroonian shot-stopper ahead of the September 12 transfer deadline, with the final decision now resting with Onana.

Ruben Amorim dropped Onana in favour of Altay Bayindir for Manchester United’s first three Premier League games of the season, with his only appearance coming in the shock EFL Cup second-round defeat to Grimsby Town.

United signed promising goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, with the Belgian international now set to compete for a starting spot alongside Altay Bayindir, who conceded four goals in the opening three games.

Trabzonspor Reach Agreement for Onana

Romano, writing on X, revealed that Trabzonspor have reached a verbal agreement with Man United to sign Onana on loan, with the final decision now resting with the Cameroon international:

Onana, who joined United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023, made 50 appearances for the Red Devils last season, conceding 65 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets, with his last Premier League shutout coming in the 0-0 draw at home against Manchester City in April.

The Cameroon international still has three years left on his contract and reportedly demanded a pay rise after arriving for pre-season, according to The Athletic.

Onana received a 25% wage cut following United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League in 2023/24 and returned to Carrington this summer seeking a new contract – a move which reportedly did not sit well with Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese tactician has since dropped Onana from his first XI in favour of Bayindir and signed Lammens, who is projected to become United’s new No. 1 this term.

The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper joined United for an initial £18.1m plus add-ons from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, signing a five-year contract.

He became the fifth and final arrival of a busy summer at Old Trafford, which saw first-team outcasts Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund depart either permanently or on loan.
