As reported by Fabrizio Romano, PSG defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu is expected to undergo his RB Leipzig medical ahead of signing a long-term contract with the club on Monday.
The Frenchman, who played 801 minutes in 17 games across all competitions last season for PSG, is expected to cost Leipzig between €18m and €20m – a significant fee for a player entering the final 12 months of his contract.
The French market is one that Leipzig seem to know well with the arrival of Christopher Nkunku, Jean-Kévin Augustin and Ibrahima Konaté is seasons gone by, while earlier in the week they announced the signing Loïs Openda from Lens for a club record fee.
With the departures of Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai, Leipzig have some funds to reinvest back into their squad with the signing of Bitshiabu likely to be one for the future. It’s known that Joško Gvardiol is likely to leave this summer or next, with Manchester City in pole position to sign the Croat, and the signing of Bitshiabu again highlights the club’s excellent recruitment system.
Not only that, Leipzig are continuing to push through a deal for Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida, with whom they’ve agreed personal terms with while Lyon’s Castello Lukeba is also on the club’s shortlist.
