According to SportBild, Eintracht Frankfurt are willing to offer Kevin Trapp a contract extension which includes a role at the club after his retirement.
Last summer, the club captain was heavily linked to a move to the Premier League with Manchester United. Despite his contract running until 2024, Frankfurt’s board members are keen to secure Trapp for the long term.
Should the club’s sporting director Markus Krösche get his way, the new contract will include a job within the club after he hangs up his gloves. It’s unknown whether this job will be on the training pitch or elsewhere but it’s clear that Frankfurt see Trapp as a leader and vital asset.
Currently one of the top earners at the club, an extension would see Trapp actually take a drop in wages but with bonuses, he will be more or less the same as he is now.
Trapp’s Frankfurt career began in 2012 when he arrived from Kaiserslautern. Apart from a brief spell at PSG between 2015 and 2018, the keeper has spent the majority of his career with Frankfurt. This may possibly continue after his playing days.
