Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are willing to spend up to €15m on a new striker, with the future of Lucas Alario and Rafael Santos Borre both up in the air.
One candidate for Frankfurt at striker is Augsburg’s Ermedin Demirovic. Demirovic joined Augsburg from Freiburg on a free transfer last summer, in his first season at the club, the 25-year-old scored eight and assisted six in 32 games as Augsburg flirted with relegation.
However, Demirovic has a contract at Augsburg until 2026 and has a current market value of €12m according to transfermarkt. This is likely to prompt Frankfurt to pursue its alternative option.
Hertha Berlin’s Jessic Ngankam is the other option for Frankfurt. Ngankam is significantly cheaper than Demirovic and has a contract at second-division Hertha until 2025.
A decision on Frankfurt’s striker options is to be made after the under-21 European Championship, where Ngankam is currently playing for Germany.
