Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Arthur Theate from Stade Rennes.
The Belgian centre-back makes the switch to Germany on loan with an option to buy.
“We have been watching Arthur Theate very closely for a long time. Last season, it was not financially possible to make this transfer,” said Eintracht Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche.
“We are very happy that we were able to convince Arthur of our way. With his technical ability and intelligence, we are convinced that he will strengthen us in whatever system we play, primarily at the left centre-back position and optionally at left-back.”
Theate, 24, commented:
“I had heard a lot of good things about Eintracht, the stadium and the fans. During the European Championship with Belgium, I got a taste of the atmosphere here. In the end, it was the talks with the people around Markus Krösche that convinced me.
“It’s inspiring to see what the club has achieved in recent years and the way it celebrates its successes. That’s exactly what I want: to perform and win titles. The fans, the stadium, the prospects – it all fits together perfectly.”
