Eintracht Frankfurt close to a contract agreement with Kevin Trapp

According to SportBild, Eintracht Frankfurt are close to finding a common solution regarding Kevin Trapp’s future and contract at the club.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has long been in discussions with Frankfurt bosses about a contract renewal and possible employment after retirement. Despite his current contract running out in 2024, the German international clearly see’s his future in Frankfurt. Over the past 12 months, Trapp has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and Manchester United but has also reiterated his desire to stay at his current club.

It’s reported that Trapp’s possible future deal will include an ambassador from once he has hung up his boots. This means he could be offered a deal that spans 5 years to cover his remaining playing days at the start of his career off the pitch.

The one sticking point during talks has been Trapp’s salary and bonuses. Currently, the goalkeeper is one of the top earners at the club. However, the new deal would include a base salary which is much lower than what he currently earns. The sum would rise, however, with high success and bonuses.

It’s clear that the future for Trapp is Frankfurt and an agreement is in sight.
