Borussia Dortmund have opened with Marco Reus over a new contract, according to Sport Bild.

BVB head coach Edin Terzic, in particular, is pushing for Reus’ contract to be extended beyond the end of the season, per the report.

Reus and Dortmund are reportedly discussing the length of a potential new deal, with the 33-year-old understood to be keen to keep playing at the highest level for at least two more years.

If Reus agrees to a salary reduction, it’s likely that the parties will come to an agreement on a new deal.

Mats Hummels is also out of contract at the end of the season, but the situation with him appears to be different.

The 34-year-old is more willing to take a pay cut to stay, but the responsible at the club are yet to approach him over a new deal.
