Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen has been named Bundesliga Player of the Month for April.
The Dutchman scored five goals and created one in five Bundesliga games in April and it’s a run that has continued as BVB challenge for their first Meisterschale since 2012. His resurgence has resulted in eight goals and three assists in his last eight Bundesliga games.
A Dortmund player has won each Player of the Month award in 2023: Julian Brandt (January and February) and Raphael Guerreiro (March). Other nominees for the April award included Timo Werner (RB Leipzig), Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen), Josha Vagnoman (Stuttgart), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen) and Benjamin Pavard (Bayern Munich).
Now an undroppable player for Edin Terzic, Malen’s resurgence in form has placed Borussia Dortmund in an excellent position to win the Bundesliga title with two games remaining. One point behind leaders Bayern Munich, Dortmund must beat Augsburg and Mainz and hope that Bayern drop points against RB Leipzig and Cologne.
