Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Seoane has given an injury update on Kevin Diks.
Kevin Diks was forced off at half-time during Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 3-2 DFB-Pokal first-round win over Atlas Delmenhorst on Sunday due to a muscle issue.
His availability for Gladbach’s Bundesliga opener against Hamburger SV this Sunday remains very uncertain, head coach Gerardo Seoane confirmed at a press conference on Friday.
“Kevin Diks trained individually today,” Seoane said.
“We are still waiting to see how much we can include him in tomorrow’s final training before deciding about the game.”
Should Diks miss out, Fabio Chiarodia is expected to step in.
“I believe Fabio has gained maturity, improved his tackling strength, and gained experience through playing time. This is the path young players must take. Making the occasional mistake is part of development,” Seoane said.
“At some point, they must reach a level where we feel they are ready to play in the Bundesliga. They need to handle pressure situations and adapt to different opponents. Fabio has made significant progress in that regard.”
