According to Sky Germany, Diego Demme is unlikely to return to the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart both not engaging in a deal with Napoli over the player.
Marlon Irlbacher reported that with Leverkusen there was no contact at all with the player. Whilst Dennis Bayer also reported that with Stuttgart there was little contract between the club and player. Demme is alleged to have had a conversation with Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti and is hoping to have more playing time in the second half of the season. It is now likely he will stay in Naples until the summer.
Demme joined Napoli from RB Leipzig in 2020. The 31-year-old played 214 times for Leipzig during his six-year stay at the club and was key in their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016.
Stuttgart showed an interest in signing Josuha Guilavogui to play as a defensive-midfielder as they look for depth, allowing Wataru Endo to play further forward.
As for Leverkusen, they recently signed Noah Mbamba from Club Brugge who is one for the future and a transfer for Demme may block his pathway.
