Speaking on Sunday, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer seemed to imply that extending Leroy Sané’s contract is not a high priority.

Bayern Munich are in the midst of important negotiations, with a number of key players out of contract either this summer or in 2026.
Speaking at the club’s annual general meeting on Sunday, president Herbert Hainer named Jamal Musiala, who is under contract until 2026, and Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich, both under contract until next summer, as players he would like to shape the future of the club.
“Three different stories, three different paths – and three players who grew up here in Munich. We’ve had Beckenbauer, Hoeneß, Rummenigge, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Müller and Neuer. Now Jamal, ‘Jo’ and ‘Phonzy’ should join them – and set the standards for future generations, on and off the pitch,” Hainer said.
Remarkably, Hainer made no mention of Leroy Sané, who, like Kimmich and Davies, is out of contract in 2025. Does that mean a new deal for the 28-year-old winger is not a top priority for the Bavarians?
“We have several players whose contracts expire in 2025,” Hainer told Sky Germany when asked why he didn’t mention Sané in his speech.
“I don’t want to talk about every single player today. I have mentioned these three because I believe that they could become, or already are, formative faces of FC Bayern.”
