According to the Abendzeitung, if Germany have a successful tournament at the Euros next summer, then they will try and keep both Julian Nagelsmann and Rudi Völler.
Both of Nagelsmann and Völler’s contracts expire in 2024 after the tournament and the DFB hopes that both can continue beyond that date. Völler will make the decision for himself on his future and that is expected in the spring, it is worth noting that no one is lined up to replace Völler at the moment as no agreement was reached with Sami Khedira.
Nagelsmann and Völler reportedly have a great working relationship and this is something that has been lacking for a while now within the DFB.
The October international break was Nagelsmann’s first time with the international team after Hansi Flick was sacked as Germany manager in September. The break consisted of a trip to the US which brought a mixed bag of results with a 3-1 win against the USA before a 2-2 draw with Mexico wrapped up the trip.
