As newly-promoted Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 prepare to square off against their promoted-colleagues 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday afternoon, Darmstadt trainer Torsten Lieberknecht revealed that he has additional injury problems at his Thursday presser

Having already lost attacking midfielder Marvin Mehlem to a fractured fibula last week, SV Darmstadt 98 will have to head into their Saturday showdown with the Bundesliga’s other newly-promoted side 1. FC Heidenheim without two more players who have scored goals for them this season. Winger Fabian Nürnberger (one league goal) and fullback Matthias Bader (another scorer of a league tally) will be missing.
SV trainer Torsten Lieberknecht revealed that Nürnberger had suffered an ankle injury in training during his Thursday presser. Bader had been attempting a comeback after issues with his hip kept him out of last week’s encounter. Lieberknecht noted that the 26-year-old’s recovery trajectory likely only rendered him an option next week against Wolfsburg.
Darmstadt have now gone five league rounds without a win. Frank Schmidt’s Heidenheim have secured three league victories to Darmstadt’s two thus far this season and lie two points ahead of the Hessians in the Bundesliga table. A home win for Heidenheim on Saturday can send Schmidt’s Albogen club well above the relegation pack.
