Frankfurter Rundschau is reporting that Daichi Kamada has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Kamada is set to earn €5.5-6m a year with a five-year contract. The salary will be more than double what the 26-year-old is currently earning at Eintracht Frankfurt. Kamada joined Frankfurt in 2017 from Sagan Tosu in Japan for €1.6m.
This season the Japan international has already recorded his best season at Frankfurt when it comes to goals and assist, in 30 games he has scored 13 times and assisted five. Kamada will leave Frankfurt having won the DFB Pokal and the Europa League in his five year stay.
This will hopefully be the first of two free transfers that Dortmund hope to complete over the coming months as they are also heavily linked to complete the signing of left-back Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Kamada can play as a central midfielder as well as in a more attacking role and will be an upgrade on Mahmoud Dahoud, who Dortmund have announced will leave at the end of the season.
