If one of the Germany goalkeepers is forced to withdraw from the squad this month, Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen is ready to step in.
According to Sky Germany, DFB goalkeeping coach Andreas Kronenberg sees the 26-year-old as the top alternative should Oliver Baumann, Alexander Nübel or Stefan Ortega Moreno pick up an injury.
“There was a brief exchange. I know I’m on the radar, which makes me happy,” Dahmen told Sky, who reports that his club, Augsburg, have also been informed.
As well as Germany, Dahmen is also eligible to play for England.
“I feel a connection to both countries. I don’t want to rule anything out and I can imagine both options. I would consider it,” said Dahmen on the possibility of playing for ‘Three Lions’.
Germany face Italy in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League this month, with the first leg taking place on Thursday and the return leg on Sunday.
