Kicker reports that Crystal Palace defender Chris Richards is a candidate to replace Konstantinos Mavropanos at Stuttgart as the Greek defender desires to leave the club this summer.
The American is deemed as surplus to requirements at Palace despite the fact that he has a contract at the club until 2027. Palace are ready to loan the defender out and this could open the door to reuniting with Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß. Richards played under Hoeneß at Hoffenheim as well as in the Bayern Munich youth teams.
Stuttgart needs to replace Mavropanos as the 25-year-old is closing in on a move to West Ham as he has previously stated his desire to leave the club this summer.
After having a strong start to the transfer window, Stuttgart now finds themselves in a situation where they will have to replace some of their best players with very little time before the season begins. Not only is Mavropanos set to depart the club but captain Wataru Endo is also set to join Liverpool in the Premier League.
