Premier League side Crystal Palace have reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich defender Chris Richards (22), according to Sky Germany.
The US international spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim, where he played 21 games across all competitions. Richards has had two loan spells at TSG, playing 34 games.
Richards has three-years remaining on his current deal at Bayern Munich but with the imminent arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, playing time would be hard to find – Bayern are also open to selling a central-defender or two to accommodate the signing of the Dutchman.
Now that an agreement has been reached between Crystal Palace and Richards, negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs and it’s up to the Premier League side to make Bayern an opening offer.
It was reported on Sunday that Bayern may have used Richards in a makeweight to sign Hoffenheim’s David Raum, TSG showed interest in re-signing the American central-defender. But it now appears that Palace have pipped Hoffenheim to the signing of Richards.
