Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Axel Hellmann has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently without a club, was offered to the Europa League champions.
“He was even offered to us,” Hellmann told DAZN, via Patrick Berger. Philip Holzer, chairman of Eintracht’s supervisory board added: “I have the feeling he was offered to every Champions League club.”
This comes after Manchester United confirmed on November 22 that Ronaldo would leave the club, by mutual agreement, with immediate effect, after scoring 145 goals in 346 games across two spells.
Ronaldo’s departure came days after an explosive interview with Piers Morgan, in which the Portuguese forward said he felt “betrayed” and had “no respect” for manager Erik ten Hag.
With a desire to still play Champions League football, it would appear that Ronaldo (37), was offered to every UCL participant. One of those was Eintracht Frankfurt, who play Napoli in the Round of 16.
But contrary to reports, Ronaldo was never an option for Bayern Munich and there was also no meeting between officials of the Bundesliga club, and Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes.
