Christophe Galtier to launch legal proceedings after racism allegations

L’Équipe report tonight that Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier is set to launch legal proceedings over accusations of racist remarks, detailed in an email from last year attributed to former Nice director Julien Fournier.

Fournier, who left the club in the summer, has denied being responsible for the contents of the email transpiring, while Galtier, through a statement made by his lawyer to AFP yesterday, has refuted the allegations “in the strongest terms“.

Now, L’Équipe report, the former Lille manager’s legal representative will submit three legal complaints to the Paris public prosecutor by the start of next week. One will be for libel, against Fournier as well as Romain Molina – who first revealed the email on Tuesday night in a video – and RMC’s Daniel Riolo, who confirmed Molina’s initial report later in the evening. Another will be for “risk of harm to others”, while the third will be for bullying and death threats received after his phone number was published on social media.

According to L’Équipe, Galtier’s inner circle indicate are said to be surprised of Nice and Fournier’s responses. Les Aiglons had released a statement indicating that neither Fournier nor Galtier were working for the club anymore, and that “this situation was treated with the utmost seriousness at the time of the events. The club will make no further comment.”
