Christophe Galtier described as “astounded” by accusations of racism

A report from Le Parisien tonight describes Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier as being “astounded” by Tuesday’s night’s reports of an email sent by ex-Nice director Julien Fournier accusing him of racist remarks.

Fournier, who left the club in the summer, has denied being responsible for the contents of the email transpiring, while Galtier, through a statement made by his lawyer to AFP, has refuted the allegations “in the strongest terms“. The manager’s legal representative explained that he had “found out about the insulting and libellous remarks with astonishment”.

In the wake of Saturday night’s league win over his former club – a return to winning ways for PSG – Galtier was reportedly upbeat, but demeanour was more dejected at Wednesday’s training session in the wake of the allegations. Luís Campos – with whom he worked at Lille – was present at the training ground and showed his support for the manager. 

Galtier, who has been placed under protection along with his family in the wake of death threats, is reportedly in possession of written exchanges which contradict Fournier’s claims, add Le Parisien. His inner circle has reportedly described him as “astounded” and “stunned” on Tuesday on finding out about the allegations that were going to be made later that evening. One member of his entourage added that the accusations “go against the human values instilled by his family and which he carries with him”, while others chose not to comment to Le Parisien.
