In a recent tweet, journalist Ekrem Konur mentioned that Chelsea are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of Everton forward Richarlison. It is believed that the Blues have joined Spurs in the race to land the Brazil international during this summer transfer period.

Richarlison’s Decent Form At Merseyside Last Season

Richarlison had a difficult campaign at Goodison Park but managed to help the Toffees avoid relegation from the Premier League. The 25-year-old netted 11 goals and secured five assists in 32 matches for the Merseyside club last season across all fronts.

The talented attacker deserves a pat on the back for averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.1 clearances, 2.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in Premier League football. However, he was sloppy with his ball distribution after making 63.4% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Is Richarlison A Good Option For Chelsea Head Coach Thomas Tuchel?

Richarlison works hard for his team defensively but can also make some clever runs in the opponent’s half. He has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the attacking end of the field and can even strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. Richarlison can play anywhere across the frontline. He mostly played as a centre-forward for Everton last season but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if needed.

The 36-time Brazil international can be a good finisher in front of the opposition goal when he is playing with confidence on the field. At 25, Richarlison has got his best years ahead of him which makes him an excellent option for the Blues to pursue in this off-season. However, he has to find a way to improve his offensive numbers if he wants to become a success story at West London.

We can expect Richarlison to add more depth to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel‘s match-day squad. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming seasons. The South American sensation might even help the London giants close the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of English football in the not-too-distant future.
