Gabriel Jesus agent claim corrected amid Arsenal transfer ‘agreement’ ahead of Man City move

The agent of Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus is reportedly still in Brazil amid reports that he has travelled to London to complete a deal.

Manager Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window, with the Spaniard desperate to improve on last season’s 61 Premier League goal tally. football.london understands that Manchester City forward Jesus is on the club’s shortlist of profiles and technical director Edu has held talks with the player’s representatives in recent times.

The 25-year-old has just over 12 months left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and game time could be hard to come by next term given Pep Guardiola’s men have already signed forwards Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer. Recent reports have even claimed that the player’s agent is in London to finalise a deal with Arsenal, although transfer guru Freddie Paxton has now claimed that these reports are wide of the mark.

Writing on Twitter, Paxton said: “Reports that Gabriel Jesus’ agents are in London now are wide of the mark. As it stands, Marcelo Pettinati – the agent working most closely on his future – is still in Sao Paolo. Confirmed to me directly.”

The former Palmeiras ace enjoyed a solid season with the Citizens, netting 13 times and providing a further 12 assists across all competitions, numbers that read even more impressive when you consider that means he managed a direct goal contribution every 102.8 minutes.
