Chelsea have made it clear to Aubameyang’s entourage that they will not let him leave without a fee.
After spending over £600 million over the past two transfer windows, they are in danger of running into financial fair play (FFP) troubles.
Chelsea will not be letting valuable assets walk for free.
The Blues paid £12 million to Barcelona to sign the 33-year-old last summer, but he has not delivered. They want to sell him in what will be a massive clearout at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Barcelona want to re-sign the Gabonese striker, but they only want him on a free transfer. They tried to take him in January, but Chelsea blocked them.
The Catalans will likely return for Aubameyang this summer, but Chelsea want to recoup some of the money they spent to sign him.
It is unclear whether Barca can pay up as they are cash-strapped. They are struggling to find funds to sign and register players.
However, they are not the only team interested in Aubameyang. Atletico Madrid and AC Milan have signalled interest in the former Arsenal man.
Milan might consider a move for Aubameyang with Olivier Giroud advancing in age.
Also, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave the club this summer when his contract runs out after ongoing battles with injuries. He could sign for AC Monza on a free transfer.
Another option for Aubameyang could be to head to Madrid to join Diego Simeone’s Atletico.
Los Colchoneros are looking for affordable options to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
Although, the reports claim Aubameyang wants Barca, and the club wants him too. He will wait till the summer transfer window to see if Barcelona can afford Chelsea’s demands.
