Chelsea complete the signing of Angelo Gabriel from Santos

Chelsea have announced the signing of Angelo Gabriel from Santos. 

The 18-year-old is one of the most talented players to have emerged from Brazil. 

He became the youngest player in the history of the Brazil national championship when he earned his competitive debut at just 15 years and 308 days. 

The forward then scored in a Copa Libertadores game against San Lorenzo to become the youngest scorer in the competition’s history. 

Despite his age, he has made 129 senior appearances at the Vila Belmiro, netting five and creating 10 goals in the process. 

Angelo Gabriel’s excellent performances caught the attention of several top European clubs including Barcelona and Chelsea. 

But the Premier League outfit have won the transfer race for the hugely talented youngster. 

As per The Athletic, they agreed a €15 million transfer fee with Santos for the 18-year-old last month. 

The Brazilian should be available for the Blues’ pre-season tour to the United States. But he is likely to be sent on loan to Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg for his development. 

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will begin their 2023 summer pre-season by taking on Wrexham on July 19 in North Carolina. 

They will subsequently face Brighton & Hove Albion before locking horns with Newcastle United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 26. 

The West Londoners will also meet Fulham and Borussia Dortmund in what will be a busy pre-season for them.
