Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of the Brazilian national team, has set his sights firmly on the upcoming World Cup, aiming to add the global title to his already illustrious trophy cabinet. The Italian manager shared his goals and expressed a unique personal hope in a recent interview on the Rai Due program Dribbling.
Ancelotti confirmed that the objective for the Seleção is unambiguous, stating that the pressure is mounting given the nation’s 24-year wait for a title.
He said, via Calciomercato: “The dream is to make Brazil win the sixth World Cup. There are great expectations but also great enthusiasm. The fact that they haven’t won for 24 years weighs heavily. We hope it doesn’t become 28! We want to win and we don’t hide it.”
When asked about the potential for an emotionally charged matchup, Ancelotti confessed that he hopes to face his home country in the ultimate game.
“I would like a final between Brazil and Italy, it would be beautiful for me on an emotional level,” he said.
The potential final, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in June and July, is contingent on Italy qualifying, as they currently face the prospect of a playoff route, unlike the already-qualified Brazilian squad.
The Azzurri are yet to book a spot in the tournament and are likely to qualify through the playoffs route.
