Borussia Dortmund confirmed late Monday evening that striker Sebastian Haller had been released from training camp after a testicular tumor was discovered. At present, there is no further information available about the player’s condition, which has eerie echoes of the case with Hertha BSC attacker Marco Richter.
Richter, who had his testicular tumor successfully removed at Berlin Charité Hospital last Tuesday, remains out indefinitely. In public statements released with the news, Dortmund said they would provide further updates only with the player’s permission, asking for both patience and respect for Haller’s privacy in the matter.
“This news today was a shock for Sebastien Haller and all of us,” BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl noted in a statement, “The entire BVB family wishes Sebastien a full recovery as soon as possible. We will do everything in our power to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment.”
Sebastien #Haller hat das #BVB-Trainingslager in Bad Ragaz krankheitsbedingt verlassen müssen und ist bereits zurück nach Dortmund gereist. Bei Untersuchungen wurde ein Hodentumor entdeckt.
Gute Besserung, @HallerSeb! 🙏🙏
