Bryan Mbeumo Wants to Join Man Utd Alongside Cunha

Manchester United plan to bid for Bryan Mbeumo even if Bruno Fernandes stays at the club, GIVEMESPORT sources have been told.

The Brentford attacker scored 20 goals and registered seven assists this season, and is also drawing interest from Newcastle United and Arsenal. However, it’s understood Mbeumo favours a move to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo has one year left on his current contract, but Brentford have a club option to extend by a further 12 months. That means the Bees can protect Mbeumo’s value, and it’s why the asking price is understood to be in excess of £50m.

Talks planned for near future

Brentford are yet to receive any bids, but are anticipating a summer exit, and Manchester United are expecting to start talks soon.

Mbeumo, who has been described as ‘insane’, does not view Champions League football next season as a deal-maker, much like Matheus Cunha before he joined Man United from Wolves, and that gives the Reds optimism they can win the race for the 25-year-old.

Newcastle also want to add a right-sided attacker as a high priority for the Magpies, especially after selling Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United in January. Arsenal are a slightly newer suitor for Mbeumo, and their interest is driven by new sporting director Andrea Berta.

Arsenal like the idea of Mbeumo playing as a second striker or number one, but he would face heavy competition for game time as right winger due to Bukayo Saka.

But Manchester United lead the race due to player buy in. Rubem Amorim has asked the Manchester United hierarchy for two versatile number tens, viewing this position as vital to his system.

Alejandro Garnacho, who is expected to leave, has been used more centrally under Amorim and his departure would help United fund Mbeumo.

Captain has a huge offer from Al-Hilal

A €100m+ sale of captain Bruno Fernandes would also allow United to move more freely in the market, but the Manchester United captain is yet to make a final decision on his future.

His agent Miguel Pinho spent what sources term a “productive” week in Riyadh meeting with Al-Hilal. The Saudi club want to sign Fernandes in time for the Club World Cup, and believe an agreement on terms is close.

However, this is denied by those close to Fernandes, who still insist he is carefully deliberating the offer and will decide based on what is best for his family rather than only looking at the offer in football terms. Al-Hilal want an answer by Friday, giving them time to move on to other marquee names before their opening Club World Cup game against Real Madrid on June 18 in Miami.

Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans is another target, while Hilal also want to a add a more central or defensive-minded midfielder with Inter’s Nicola Barella their top target and Atlanta’s Ederson another name of interest. Meanwhile upfront, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen remains an option.

Al-Hilal are also hoping to appoint Simone Inzaghi as their new manager in time for the Club World Cup, but Inter also want to keep the Italian. Key talks are set to take place early this week to clarify Inzaghi’s future with Al-Hilal forced to wait on an answer due the Champions League Final.
