Brighton plot move for Bayer Leverkusen forward Amine Adli

Brighton & Hove Albion are weighing up the possibility of a move for highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen forward Amine Adli.

According to RMC Journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the Seagulls have received the green light from the player’s representative to pursue a potential deal.

However, convincing Leverkusen to sanction his departure will be complicated, with the Germans heavily reluctant to lose the Frenchman this summer. 

Leverkusen have already sold Moussa Diaby to Aston Villa over the summer, so releasing another forward player will limit Xabi Alonso’s attacking options.

Die Werkself have finalised a deal for Southampton forward Nathan Tella, who has been identified as a replacement for Diaby.

Selling Adli will take the Bundesliga side back to square one, and with limited time to find a replacement as the transfer window closes on Friday, hence their reluctance to sanction any more attacking departures.

Adli cost Leverkusen around €7 million when he joined from French side Toulouse in the summer of 2021, and his popularity in Europe has grown exponentially ever since.

He caught the eye in his debut campaign when he managed four goals and four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Adli also created four big chances, averaged 0.6 key passes per 90 and showed a desire to constantly attempt to beat his man after completing an eye-catching 57% of his dribbles.

Last season, he took his numbers up a notch, scoring seven times and laying off a further six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions – although it could have been more, considering he missed six big chances in the league.

He also created two big chances, averaged 0.8 key passes per 90 and completed 54% of his attempted dribbles.

If Brighton can somehow convince Leverkusen to do business, Adli will be an excellent addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s side, which already boasts some of the finest attackers in the Premier League.
