Brentford reach agreement with Seongnam FC to sign Ji-soo Kim

Brentford have reached an agreement with South Korean club Seongnam FC to sign Ji-soo Kim.

This is according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano who claims that personal terms have also been agreed and a deal will be signed next week.

Kim is one of the brightest prospects to have emerged from South Korea. The 18-year-old made his senior debut at Tancheon Stadium last year, thus becoming the youngest player ever to appear in a K League 1 game.

So far, he has made 21 appearances for the Magpies with an assist to his name.

His performances sparked an interest from Premier League side Brentford who are now on the verge of signing him.

Thomas Frank’s side enjoyed an impressive 2022-23 season as they finished ninth in the standings with 59 points.

Considering the Bees don’t boast a huge transfer budget, this is a remarkable achievement from them.

Under the Danish boss, the West London outfit will now be looking to finish even higher up the table in the 2023-24 season.

Brentford look to have made a good start to the summer transfer window as they are close to signing a very talented player in Ji-soo Kim.

He is only 18 and so there is a lot of scope for improvement in his game.

The South Korean will likely be sent on loan for the next season as he doesn’t look ready for first team action yet.

But opportunities can open up for him at the Gtech Community Stadium if he proves his skills during the loan stint.
