An afternoon that began with the unfortunate news that defensive prospect Fabio Chiarodia had opted to leave his youth academy club concluded with much brighter news from SV Werder Bremen. After a very successful extended loan stint with Borussia Dortmund, 22-year-old striker Justin Njinmah received a new contract with the Hanseaten; one that will see him slated to immediately join the first-team at his parent club.
The Hamburg-native scored a total of 18 goals in 51 appearances for BVB II during his 18-month-loan-stint with BVB II in the 3. Liga. The former Holstein-Kiel academy man also made his senior team debut for Edin Terzic’s senior team on matchday six of the just-completed campaign. Njinmah made a total of three matchday squads under Terzic.
“The loan to Borussia Dortmund’s U23s in the third division did him good, and he took another clear step in the right direction there,” Bremen licensing director Clemens Fritz noted in a statement accompanying the news “Justin continues to be a young player who brings a lot to the table, but his development is far from over. We are very excited to see how he will complement our forward line.”
