Borussia Dortmund fans paid homage to Marcel, a member of BVB’s ultra group ‘The Unity’, who sadly passed away at the start of January following a terminal illness.
“Always fought – never gave up.”
“You will live on in our hears.”
“Rest in peace, Marcel!”
Marcel was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2017 and underwent three serious operations, as reported by Ruhr Nachrichten. Dortmund fans had supported Marcel and his family financially, and banners were regularly seen around the Westfalenstadion, and other stadiums around Germany.

Marcel watched Dortmund’s home game against Werder Bremen in October with his family in the Westtribüne and then after the game, the entire BVB squad gathered for a photo with Marcel. Unfortunately Marcel lost his battle against cancer at the start of the month.
