Borussia Dortmund could enter the transfer market should Yan Couto’s injury picked up in Monday’s DFB Pokal win against Rot-Weiss Essen turn out to be serious. In the closing stages of the game, the Brazilian was on the receiving end of a horror tackle by Kelsey Owusu leaving Couto needing to be stretchered off by paramedics.
Should Couto be absent for a lengthy period of time, Dortmund may be forced to sign a replacement. “If Yan were to be sidelined now, the situation would certainly have changed. We’ll see what really makes sense in terms of transfers,” explained Sebastian Kehl.
It’s the latest defensive injury Borussia Dortmund have to contend with as Emre Can (Adductor), Nico Schlotterbeck (Meniscus) and Niklas Süle (Calf) are all sidelined for the foreseeable future. It did pave the way for Filippo Mané (20) to make his competitive debut for die Schwarzgelben but BVB find themselves in a less than ideal situation heading into their Bundesliga game against St. Pauli in the Topspiel on Saturday evening.
