According to Bild, amid the uncertainty of the future of Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund are beginning to look for the 34-year-old’s successor and Nürnberg’s Can Uzun is an option.
Heading into the summer, Dortmund want to sign a new playmaker and a player who can replace Reus when he eventually retires. However, Dortmund will face competition from a host of clubs for Uzun as Bayern Munich, Brighton, Galatasaray and Sevilla have all at one point shown interest in the 18-year-old.
A key component of Uzun’s future is his playing time and it may not be guaranteed at these clubs. At the same time, at Eintracht Frankfurt, who have also shown interest, he will likely play more whilst also continuing to play with his friend Nathanial Brown who is set to move to the club.
In his first full season at Nürnberg, Uzun has played 17 times scoring nine and assisting twice. What is certain is that this will be his last season playing for the Franconia club.
