It was top against bottom as Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin travelled to Bochum earlier today, but that didn’t show in today’s game at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.
Bochum grabbed their second victory of the season, winning 2-0 – and deservedly so, according to Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer.
“I have to say Bochum wore us down today. We had few answers to that,” Fischer said in a post-match interview.
“We weren’t compelling enough in the last 30 metres, and we also gifted them a few changes. The team tried everything, but Bochum were just a touch better today.”
Despite today’s defeat, Union remain top of the Bundesliga, one point clear of Bayern München. Bochum, meanwhile, have leapfrogged Schalke to 17th.
