Bernardo Silva throws Man City future into doubt amid PSG links

Bernardo Silva was on the field all 90 minutes as Manchester City squeaked past Inter Milan 1-0 to lift their first-ever Champions League title on Saturday night.

During the post-match interview with Telefoot, the 28-year-old chose to remain silent on his future, fuelling speculation over his potential summer exit.

“Honestly, I don’t know – we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks and months,” the Portugal international said.

“But right now, we need to celebrate because we’ve achieved something special.”

Silva extended his contract in March, and he could still part with Man City in the coming months.

Alongside his captain Ilkay Gundogan, the Portuguese ace may have played his last game in the Cityzens jersey after rumours of his possible switch to Paris Saint-Germain have started to make headlines.

In addition to the most decorated Ligue 1 club, newly-crowned La Liga champions Barcelona hold a long-term interest in Silva.

If he decides to leave, the Parc des Princes would be a more plausible destination, particularly due to the Spaniards’ financial struggles.

Given Silva’s illustrious career at Man City, the possibility of him leaving the club makes no sense.

He has been an irremovable object in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up since swapping Monaco for the Etihad Stadium in 2017, playing a major role in five Premier League titles in the past six years.

Silva has registered 55 appearances for Man City this season, helping the team equal Manchester United’s record of winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in a single campaign.

But his trophy-laden spell in Manchester could end this summer, even though he’s under contract until 2025.

Having spent three years at Monaco before moving to the Etihad Stadium, Silva is familiar with Ligue 1, so joining PSG may be acceptable from his point of view.

While his playing style suits Barcelona’s philosophy better, the French side’s economic power would give them a firm upper hand over the Camp Nou outfit in a prospective transfer tug-of-war.
