Bernardo Silva confirmed on Wednesday night that he is staying at Manchester City, despite reports suggesting he was joining FC Barcelona.
“I have not received any offers. I’m staying in Manchester. I’m happy and the decision is made,” the Portugal international said after City’s 6-0 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.
The creative player has been linked with a move to Barça but is now highly unlikely to move to Camp Nou before the end of the summer transfer window.
Silva, reportedly keen on a move to Barça, knew that a transfer to Spain would be complicated as there were no significant advances between the clubs in recent weeks.
He played 90 minutes as City thrashed Forest at the Eithad Stadium, with new signing Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick for the second game in a row.
Barça are now focused on securing last-minute deals for a right-back and a left-back. Marcos Alonso is expected to join from Chelsea in a swap deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
