As reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich midfielder Adrian Fein (23) will join Eredivisie side Excelsior Rotterdam on a free transfer after all parties reached a total agreement.
Entering the final year of his contract, Bayern Munich decided to waive a transfer fee for the German but have secured a future sell-on clause and will save on his salary of more than €2m.
Fein joined Bayern’s youth team in 2006 but failed to make his debut for the first team. The 23-year-old spent the 2018/19 season on loan at 2. Bundesliga Jahn Regensburg before subsequent loan spells at Hamburg, PSV and last season, Greuther Fürth, where the former German youth international played just four games.
At one point this summer, it appeared as though Fein would join MLS side LAFC. The German midfielder was already training with the American club but failed to reach a final agreement. It was reported earlier this month that the player’s move to LAFC had fallen through.
