Bayern Munich have tonight submitted a new offer of around €70m plus €10m in bonuses to Juventus for Matthijs de Ligt (22), according to Florian Plettenberg.
This comes after sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić and technical director Marco Neppe travelled to Turin on Monday to negotiate with their Juventus counterparts, which then resulted in an opening offer of €60m plus bonuses, but was rejected by the Italian side as it was below the Dutchman’s valuation.
Speaking on Friday, Salihamidžić said that Bayern “have to be patient and see what happens next.” As of yet, it’s unclear as to Juve would accept Bayern’s latest approach but per Plettenberg, an agreement is getting closer. De Ligt would also be willing to take a pay cut on his €10m salary to join Bayern Munich.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United had also shown an interest in signing De Ligt, but the central-defender only has eyes for Bayern, who showed original interest in 2019 before his move to Italy.
Bayern’s latest bid comes after both the Bundesliga side and Barcelona confirmed that an agreement had been reached for Robert Lewandowski, ending his eight year spell in Bavaria.
