Bayern Munich have begun their January transfer business early and are set to complete the signing of Granada attacker Bryan Zaragoza reports Sky Germany.
The 22-year-old will stay at Granada for the rest of the season and will join Bayern in the summer for €15m, signing a contract at the club until 2028. RB Leipzig had been interested in Zaragoza to replace the departing Emil Forsberg but Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund pushed for the signing of the attacker.
Zaragoza has been the one bright spark for Granada as they struggle upon their return to LaLiga. In 14 games for the side, the 22-year-old has five goals and two assists as Granada currently sits 19th in the league.
This will be Bayern’s second deal completed outside of the transfer window this year as last month they also signed Nestory Irankunda from Adelaide in Australia.
The influence of sporting director Freund is becoming more clear as previously Bayern very rarely focused on signing young players and would look for more of the finished product under Freund’s predecessors but with his first two signings, it is clear that Bayern are beginning to look towards the future.
