Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich have opened talks with Chelsea over potentially signing Christopher Nkunku.
Bayern had shown a strong interest in the former RB Leipzig man back in the winter, but a move failed to materialise. With a move for VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade currently looking unlikely, this is likely Bayern’s second option.
Nkunku is interested in joining Bayern, while the Rekordmeister are considering bringing the Frenchman in on loan. Chelsea, on the other hand, would prefer a sale.
Leipzig have also been linked with a return of Nkunku as a potential makeweight in a deal for Xavi Simons.
Since joining the West London side from Leipzig for €60m in 2023, Nkunku has struggled to cement himself at Chelsea, with injuries not helping. The 27-year-old has proven to be a versatile attacking option, and his best season in Germany saw him score 20 and assist 15 in 34 Bundesliga games.
