In their pursuit of a left-sided player, Bild report that Bayern Munich made a late move to hijack Jamie Gittens’ move to Chelsea. Max Eberl contacted Borussia Dortmund bosses to express Bayern’s interest in the Englishman, but it was too late.

Gittens is now expected to join Chelsea for a reported €65m after the Premier League side reached an agreement in principle with Dortmund on Saturday night. The 20-year-old will sign a seven-year contract with his new club, with a medical scheduled for Sunday.

Bild add that the figures that Bayern Munich had suggested, were also lower than Chelsea’s offer. It’s another blow for the Rekordmeister who also appear to have failed in their pursuit of Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, who has reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona.

Bayern Munich’s interest in Nick Woltemade

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade (23) featured in Germany’s 3-2 defeat against England in the UEFA European U21 Championship on Saturday night. Prior to the game, it emerged that the striker reached a verbal agreement over terms to join Bayern Munich, but that appeared to have unsettled his game, picking up a 5 rating in Get German Football News’ player ratings.

Since the reported agreement between club and player, Stuttgart are demanding around €100m for Woltemade, who has a contract until 2028, and no exit clause – meaning the Swabian club can prove difficult negotiators in an effort to keep their breakout star.
